Jordan Brand Signs Drake

This morning, Jordan Brand announced publicly their newest addition to Team Jordan, Drake, a Toronto-based rapper. I'm pretty sure we all know some names on the elite Team Jordan such as Chris Paul, Rip Hamilton, Carmelo Anthony, and Blake Griffin. But them adding Drake is completely bewildering to me, as you would think only athletes would be signed/sponsored to the athletic brand and lets face it, Drake is "just a rapper". However, this is a new day and age where hip-hop/rap artists do play an important role in urban/fashion culture (example: Kanye West's signing with Nike and Adidas), especially when it comes to sneakers. Maybe this is just a marketing scheme by Jordan Brand to boost sales in the Team Jordan section of the company or it could be a legitimate signage? We'll just have to wait and see.
