With their new installation of the the "Twitter RSVP System", today Nike has announced that new releases will no longer be available on Nike.com at Midnight EST/EDT. They will instead be made available at 8AM, on the day of the release. This is an attempt to curb the amount of internet traffic on the site. Additionally, it is becoming possible that some kicks will not have a set time of release and will instead appear on the site at an unannounced time. Although it is not set in stone yet, this new policy of unannounced timed releases might not happen, but it is for certain that Nike is putting an end to midnight online drops.
I think this is heavily going to effect the way people buy shoes now, as if the Twitter RSVP System wasn't enough, people will now have to carefully keep watch on new release information and have the patience to wait for it to drop online. To me, this is a TERRIBLE move for Nike and customers are not going to like this new policy, me being one of them.
But what do you guys think of these new policies? Do you prefer online releases at midnight or at a newer time? Comment below.
